At first, Rocky Matthews did not understand why he was losing so many lambs on his farm until he experienced what happens to them.

According to the New York Post, the farmer from Idaho, US, had no problem with eagles in the past, which have nested in his farm for over 20 years without attacking his flock.

He even thought that someone might have shot the early lambs he had lost, or they died naturally, and the other animals had pecked them to create the puncture wounds.

This was until he caught the eagle in the act and witnessed how it swooped down and landed on one lamb. When he went to check out the animal, he saw the same wounds he has been seeing.

He said the bird did not carry off the lamb but just attacked it and left, and he believes it is the same eagle that has been attacking the animals.

The incidents started occurring in April, and Matthew believes his flock is still under threat.

The farmer has moved the sheep to a closer shelter to his home.

He reached out to authorities for help, but he also fears for the eagles lacking food because they have just hatched, and the eaglets depend on his flock.

This, he says, is after a nearby lake, where the eagles feed on fish, is taking longer to warm up due to the cold spring.

In another story about eagles causing havoc, TUKO.co.ke recently reported about an eagle that led to a man from Kitui getting a snake bite on his arm.

David Musyoka said he was driving when he suddenly heard something fall on the roof of his vehicle.

As he slowed down to find out what it was, a snake entered the car from the passenger side and bit his hand as he tried to change gears to park the vehicle.

He got out of the vehicle with the snake still clinging to his hand before onlookers helped him to kill it.

While contemplating what to do with the dead snake, the eagle that had dropped it flew by and picked it up again.
