The family of a seven-month-old baby is threatening to sue Kerugoya Referral Hospital after the hospital's morgue misplaced the body of their deceased child.

Wambui died on Thursday, July 29

The youngster identified as Princess Wambui succumbed to pneumonia on Thursday, July 29, and was moved to the said mortuary.

Her family had gone to collect the body on Friday, July 30, when they were informed that the body was missing by the mortuary attendant who hurriedly left the vicinity amidst protests without giving any explanation to the mourners.

Wambui’s burial had been scheduled to take place at Kiangungu village in Kirinyaga county.

In a report by the Daily Nation, the family of the deceased blamed the morgue attendant as well as the hospital management for being negligent, with the child’s mother, Purity Wangari, vowing not to rest until they produce her daughter’s body.

“I could not believe it when they told me my daughter’s body was missing. The attendant and the hospital management should explain to us where they took the body,” cried Miss Wangari.

Jane Kari was admitted at the Mama Lucy Hospital on July 12, 2021, and her husband, Naftaly received a call from the facility informing him that she had been transferred to Mbagathi Hospital due to COVID-19 related complications.
