A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George has made comments about the recent meeting between the party’s Board of Trustees led by Senator Adolphus Wabara and Governor Nyesom Wike targeted at resolving the internal crisis in the party.
George who is one of the loyalists in Wike’s camp seeking the removal of Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP national chairman said their concerns have not been addressed yet.
Naija News reports the PDP chieftain spoke on Wednesday evening during a television interview where he made comments about their demand for balance in party leadership slots following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.
He and others maintained that the current structure of the party is tilted to the north and lacks balance and fairness.
They have demanded Ayu’s removal as a way of balancing the equation and a condition to support Atiku’s ambition.
However, following Tuesday’s meeting between the PDP BoT and Wike, George said their grievances are yet to be addressed but expressed hope that discussions would continue and a solution would eventually emerge.
“I was not there physically, but what I gathered after the meeting was that the issues raised that were of major concern to us have not been resolved and the committee led by Senator Wabara stated that they would continue the discussion.
“Rightly it’s the responsibility of the board of trustees to wade into such crisis and I am sure they will go back to convey the thoughts and the thinking of other members, who are eagerly looking to solutions to our problems,” he told Channels TV Politics Today.
Wike Makes Appointment
Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday announced the reappointment of Dr. Tammy Danagogo as the Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
The appointment was contained in a statement issued by the media aide to the Governor, Kelvin Ebiri.
According to him, the appointment is with immediate effect.
Naija News reports Danagogo occupied the same position in Wike’s cabinet before resigning to contest the 2023 governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He however lost out in the race to Wike’s anointed candidate and former Accountant General of the State, Siminialaye Fubara.
