APC Denies Suspending Rochas Okorocha

It was earlier reported that Okorocha was suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday. According to the statement, Okorocha was suspended as a result of his involvement in anti-party activities and flagrant public abuse of the person and office of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied suspending former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha for alleged “anti-party activities”.

It was earlier reported that Okorocha was suspended by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Okorocha was suspended as a result of his involvement in “anti-party activities” and ‘flagrant public abuse’ of the person and office of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement noted that Okorocha was also suspended in line with the decision of the state chapter of the party.

The party noted that the former Imo governor was found to be involved in “continuous-discrete meetings with the opposition party both at state and national level.

Reacting to the development, APC Caretaker Secretary, Senator John Akpanudoehede, said that the purported letter of suspension addressed to Okorocha was fake and forged.

He added that his signature and that of the APC Caretaker Chairman and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, were forged.

The APC scribe noted that the purported two-page letter with reference number APC/NHDQ/SP/19/022/41 dated 12th July, 2021 and titled: “Re: Notification of your suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for gross anti-party” did not emanate from his office.

“The letter is fake. It is not from us (APC). My signature was forged. The signature on that letter is copy and paste,” he told The Nation.
