The details of a National Caucus meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party have emerged.
Naija News reports that the PDP National Caucus held a meeting on Thursday in Abuja, the nation’s capital where various issues concerning the main opposition party were discussed.
Parts of the issues raised at the meeting which had in attendance members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, were the review of the 2019 general elections, how to reposition the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, the state of the party, and the recent defection of a governor on its platform, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, southern Nigeria to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.
During the meeting, the National Caucus was briefed by the PDP NWC on efforts made to persuade Governor Umahi to remain in the party and the dissolution of the PDP Ebonyi State Executive Council and the South-East Committee.
It was also learned that the review of the party’s manifesto to align with the country’s current socio-political realities was one of the decisions taken at the end of the meeting. It is believed that the decision will form part of the agenda of the PDP’s National Executive Committee meeting holding later today.
