Gunmen Kill Four NSCDC Officers, Six Others In Niger Community

Reports reaching Naija News at the moment confirmed that the security men were killed on Monday morning when the assailants stormed Galkogo community in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state. Six other residents according to a statement by the Niger State Police Command were as well killed in the attack.

Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed four officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State.

Reports reaching Naija News at the moment confirmed that the security men were killed on Monday morning when the assailants stormed Galkogo community in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.

Six other residents according to a statement by the Niger State Police Command were as well killed in the attack.

The gunmen reportedly invaded the community in their hundreds riding on motorcycles.

They are said to have burnt down eight houses and a building under renovation, belonging to Joint Security Task Force before killing the security men in gun battle.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Monday-Bala Kuryas, who confirmed the killing to newsmen, said a detachment of police tactical squad and the military personnel had been deployed to the area to track the criminals.

“We appeal to residents in the state to assist the security personnel deployed to the area with reliable information that could help in apprehending the criminals.

“We are all out to deal with any person or group of people undermining the peaceful atmosphere of our state”, he warned.

Confirming the incident also, the Chairman of Shiroro Local Government Area, Malam Suleiman Chukuba, told newsmen that those injured in the attack were receiving treatment at a government facility in Minna while some of the villagers had escaped to Minna, the state capital.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that many people have been killed in an explosion that rocked Galadima-Kogo village, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Naija News reports that the Co-Convener of Concern Shiroro Youths, Sani Abubakar Yusuf Kokki, made this known in an interview with Daily Trust on Monday.

Kokki disclosed that the explosion was caused by terrorists who planted explosives in the village.

Only a few details of the incident is made public and the numbers of casualties were sketchy as at the time of filing the report.
