Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel Celebrate 20 Years of Wicked
Chenoweth and Menzel walked the green carpet together on Monday, October 30, which marked 20 years since Wicked opened on Broadway in 2003. The actresses dressed for the occasion, with Chenoweth in a ruffled dress with green accents, and Menzel in a long green and pink plaid coat.
In an interview, Chenoweth said being there for the 20th anniversary felt “very special” and “like what we did lasted.” When asked how the musical changed her career, Menzel said, “I think it’s more about how it’s impacted me as a human being.” She added that it taught her about “living authentically.”
According to People, Monday’s event marked the end of a weekend of celebrations for the musical’s 20th anniversary. The festivities included a Today performance, a “Wicked Day Block Party” at the Gershwin Theatre, and special merchandise at Sunday’s performances.
Then on Monday, the Empire State Building was lit up in green to mark the anniversary.

The Stars Recently Posed for a Photoshoot
Chenoweth and Menzel recently posed together for a photoshoot to go along with an interview with New York Magazine reflecting on their time performing as Glinda and Elphaba. They stripped down for the shot, which shows them in side-by-side bathtubs.
“For me, I became less self-absorbed,” Menzel said about the fan reaction to Wicked. “We’re putting something out, but we’re also being given a gift. I learned so much about myself and about other people. When you play an empathic character, it teaches you so much more about humanity.”
Wicked on Broadway currently stars Alyssa Fox as Elphaba and McKenzie Kurtz as Glinda. A two-part movie adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande is set to be released in 2024 and 2025.
