The senator representing Ondo Central in the National Assembly, Ayo Akinyelure, has allegedly begun reclaiming automobiles donated to some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party after losing his third bid for re-election to the Senate.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions came second in the Ondo Central senatorial primary on Monday, after Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), who won and received 82 votes.
Akinyelure received 58 votes, with ex-Ondo State PDP Chairman Clement Faboyede coming in third with 57 votes.
Despite the money and vehicles he allegedly used as mobilization for the race, the legislator was believed to have requested his vehicles back from the leaders after being disappointed with the primary’s outcome, Daily Post reports.
Sources gathered that Akinyelure recovered the vehicles he gifted Segun Adegoke, a member of the PDP’s Board of Trustees, and Hon. Wole Akindiose, a former PDP Chairman in Ondo East and a national delegate to the party’s approaching convention.
Akinyelure’s Media and Strategy Adviser, Charles Akinwon, said the Senator only retrieved the vehicle given to Akindiose because of his role in the primaries.
Akinyelure had blamed the loss on Monday on the immediate past Governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
