Variety and Nickelodeon are joining forces again for this year’s 10 Animators to Watch event in Los Angeles. The in-person cocktail party and awards ceremony on July 18 will celebrate rising creators in the animation space who are leaving their mark on the industry, as well as Nickelodeon Studios’ 25th Anniversary.

The suspended Commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari, may spend more days in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as a result of revelations he made. It was gathered that the anti-narcotics agency had approached a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking permission to detain Abba Kyari and other suspects beyond the stipulated 48 hours sanctioned by Nigerian law. A source in the NDLEA stated that revelations made by the embattled super cop would have to be investigated which would delay his arrangement.

The former Special Adviser on politics to President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Owerri, Imo State. Gulak was on his way to Abuja from Owerri when he was killed Saturday night. A Facebook post by one of his friends, Umar Ardo, read: “I just confirmed the sad and gruesome death of my friend and classmate, the former Hon. Speaker of the Adamawa State Assembly, former Special Assistant Political to President Goodluck Jonathan, Barr Ahmed Ali Gulak was said to have been killed last night by unknown gunmen in Owerri, Imo State.
