The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja, the nation’s federal capital territory after attending the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Naija News recalls President Buhari departed the shores of Abuja, Nigeria for New York in America last Sunday to participate in the world meeting.

He returned to Nigeria through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport with his plane touching down at about 5:20 am on Sunday, 26th September.

It was gathered that upon landing at the airport, Buhari was immediately transported to the presidential villa in Abuja.

While in New York, the Nigerian leader apart from the UN general assembly meeting, also held some high-level meetings and interactions while in the United States.

Bandit terrorists have reportedly released ten abducted students of the Bethel Baptist School in Kaduna State.

Naija News reports that this was made know by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

This was disclosed in a text message to PUNCH by the Vice President of CAN (19 Northern States and Abuja) and its chairman in Kaduna State, Rev. Joseph John Hayab.

He said, “Ten more students of Baptist High School were released this afternoon. We have 11 now with bandits.

“We are thanking all Nigerians for their prayers and support.

“We are trusting God that the rest will be released very soon. All have been reunited with their parents.”

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to publish the names of Nigerians indicted in the recent Forensic Audit Report on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Naija News had reported that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, had submitted the report to President Buhari on the running of the commission between 2000 and 2019.

In an open letter dated 25 September 2021 and signed by its deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP asked the President direct the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to widely publish the names of those indicted in the report.

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has asked the federal government to pay salary arrears of its members within the next 72 hours.

Naija News reports that the NARD stated this in a press conference held on Saturday, after the swearing-in of new NARD executives held in Bauchi state.

Speaking to newsmen, the new president of the association, Dare Ishaya, stated that the strike will continue until the minimum demands of the association are met.

A former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena has warned former President Goodluck Jonathan against joining the party for the 2023 presidential ticket.

Nabena who went all spiritual said should Jonathan join the APC, God will never allow him to clinch the party’s 2023 presidential ticket.

The former APC spokesperson added that if by any stroke of chance or luck, Jonathan gets the APC ticket, he would never support the former President’s candidacy.

The only condition Nabena gave that will make him welcome Jonathan to the APC is if he would join and only give advice as a leader but not to contest the presidency.

He stated that Jonathan in the past, had every opportunity to do all he wanted to do as the President of Nigeria and there is no point trying to return again.

The former APC spokesperson however added that until Jonathan himself comes out to declare for the party, he won’t believe the rumours and speculations that the Bayelsa politician is planning to join the ruling party.

The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Oyo State has slammed controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, over his visit to Igboho town in Oyo State.

Naija News had reported that Gumi alongside the former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, had visited the town, calling on Yoruba Nation agitators to shelve their agitation for secession.

The town is the adopted home of the embattled jailed Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Speaking to newsmen, the coordinator of the OPC in Oyo State, Rotimi Olumo described Gumi’s visit to Igboho as an affront to the entire Yoruba nation.

According to him, Gumi outstepped his boundary, warning that the cleric should steer clear of all parts of the South-Western region of Yoruba land.

He said Gumi’s visit poses a big security threat to the entire Yoruba nation because they did not see any reason or interest it serves, rather than to make a mockery of the people in the South West.

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said it was regrettable that 61 years after independence, Nigeria was still grappling with leadership challenges.

The governor noted that because of such leadership failure, Nigeria was now at a point in its history needing God more than ever.

Wike made the assertion at the Interdenominational Church Service organised in commemoration of the 61st Independence Anniversary of Nigeria at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The governor stated that there is hardly anything for Nigerians to celebrate as the country marks 61st Independence anniversary because its leadership continues to entrench hatred, mediocrity, and promote ethnicity and religion.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led government of Kano State has appointed Ibrahim Aliyu as the 2nd Emir of Gaya.

Naija News understands that the new emir was announced at about 3:00 am on Sunday Morning.

The appointment of the new emir became necessary following the death of Alh. (Dr.) Ibrahim Abdulkadir.

The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Ganduje, Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim had confirmed the death of the traditional ruler in a post on social media.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has said his administration will not ban the Almajiri education system as being speculated.

He gave the assurance on Saturday, at the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop for the adaptation of the Indonesian Pondok system into the Almajiri-Islamiyya educational system in the state.

The governor stated that banning the Almajiri education system would contribute to the number of out-of-school children in the country.

Tambuwal added that the review of the Almajiri education system will help reduce the number of children that are out of school in the country.

He, however, stated that the education system will be remodelled by adapting the Indonesian Pondok system to make it better.

He stated that the ruling party is surprisingly admitting people who abused the hell out of them in the past.

Naija News reports that former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who became infamous for describing President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC in many unprintable names recently joined the ruling party.

Fani-Kayode, who had wished Buhari’s son died and described the APC as Almajiri People’s Congress, stated that all he said in the past were just political.

Though he didn’t mention Fani-Kayode by name, Nabena told SUN such defection is not good for democracy.
